30D.jpg

It arrived as I was leaving for work this morning! So far I have taken a photo of a beer bottle and a dusty keyboard :D

YAY ME!

This camera is so much nicer than the 300D. It feels weighted in the right areas and it's heavier than the 300D with battery grip, even without it's battery grip (which I also have). Taking a photo feels so much more rewarding; the shutter going off has an ace feel to it. Simply using the buttons/dials is worth every penny spent if you ask me.

Oo it's like Christmas! I noticed that they ship some RAW editing software with it too, so I'll have to try that later to see if it's any good. Shame the booklet full of discounts on the lenses is no good for me. The only lens I want is the 70-200 f/4 but that's not in it :(

So far I've only spent 45 mins playing with it, but I'm well impressed :)

{edit}Oh and ignore that pants photo. I took that with my 300D and sigma 70-300 from across the house :D

Congrats. I hope to join the official OcUK DSLR group soon. Is that the 50mm f1.8 lens on your 30D there? What other lenses have you got?

I agree on the voucher book. The only lenses in there seem to be almost specialist and are quite expensive so getting £70 of a £450+ 10-22mm doesn't really seem like much of a deal.

I've already got a Sigma 12-24, the 50mm 1.8 (in that shot), and the Sigma 70-300. To be honest, I spend 99% of the time taking photos with the 50mm. There are other areas around town I'll be using the 12-24 with.

I know what you mean, no 70-200 L glass in there ! :(

Welcome to the 30D club thou, nice isn't it ?

I'll join you with mine :D taken with my trusty Canon S70

YAY US! :D

I'm tempted to get the 70-200 f/4 when I sell my 300D. (read as I'm getting one when..)

I've got the 300D, battery grip, one battery (as I can't be bothered buying another), kit lens and all boxed still; all to sell. Should get me around £300 I think. That and the £100 cash back, is most of the price of the lens :)

Just need someone that's flush to buy it now :D

I need a monopod and a heavy tripod. Even though my current one (velbon sherpa 600n) is strong, it vibrates in strong wind, which absolutely ruins shots. Especially when you're shooting from about 5 miles away on a mountain in Wales :p

It's a Manfrotto 055Pro in Black, very sturdy.
Ah a Manfrotto. Quite a good brand I've heard. How much did you pay for that?

Am I right in saying that you have to buy a tripod and then a tripod heard to attach the camera to the tripod?

I remember paying £180 for the legs, head and a bag. You can get the legs now for £100, but the head is discontinued and its replacement is more expensive but built quality have dropped.

I bought them together but they come seperately, you just screw in some screws and viola !
