Picked it up last night and took it for an MOT this morning.
Just a few bits and bobs for the retest and I can start playing with the engine :D

Paintwork is dull, but otherwise the engine runs sweet (2.0 pinto)
And best of all the shell is incredibly solid, tester commented on it. Couple of small blisters in the boot is all.
Not bad for a 29 year old car :)

Square lights will be changed for the round jobbies with grill to suit.

Got some decambered single leaf rear springs to go on it and bilsteins to suit.
need to get some lowering springs and 2.8 legs for the front.
Then a stage 1 head and a fast road cam to get the power up a tad.

A grand for a solid mk2 2 door? lolercaust 3kish was the price.
A good condition rs will set you back *** better part of 8 grand these days.

Interior is a bit tatty, but should clean up well and the bloke I bought it off threw in some trims pieces.

I aint driving all the way to the states pal :p
If you're ever back over the right side of the pond you're more than welcome however ;)

Trying to do it as cheap as possible tbh, i'm not after massive gains, 130 ish bhp will be fine. Might drop a more modern lump in when funds allow in the future.
The escort is gonna be my every day car, and the MK Indy when it's finished, will be the hooligan car (160bhp/ 420kg) ;)

hmmm could be an idea. didn't think megajolt kits could be picked up for under £100 or so though, plus i'd need a new manifold etc.

Still undecided as to what route to go down.
Picked up some bike carbs, manifold and megajolt setup cheap off another site.
But still would need head and cam.

Do nissan 200sx lumps spin the correct way?
If they do i'm tempted to buy a rotten one and drop the engine/box et all in.
you can pick them up for 500 quid or so, and fabbing up engine mounts etc shouldn't be too much hassle.
