New TV £500ish

Hi, our trusty 42" Panasonic plasma is finally starting to give up the ghost. Having been in various electrical outlets and searching amazon im still non the wiser as to what to go for. In short, whats the best 50"ish TV for 500 quid, strictly for watching TV and film, no gaming.

Go OLED. That's the only suitable replacement for Plasma.

Think he will be struggling to find a 50” OLED in his price range unless he finds a second hand LG C2/B2. I think the cheapest I have seen is the current 48 inch Panasonic oled for 639.
