With the hopeful demise of my lg 1080 as per the other thread I'm anticipating having to change my tv and reciever.

Assuming the board had died which I think it has and that they won't get parts for a march 2013 TV I'm hoping to bag myself a Sony 4k TV in exchange as I do like the Android eco system and it would allow me to ditch my RPI Kodi box.

Sadly that will mean my yam rxv673 will have to be retired no hdcp2.2 support will screw with my V6 box along with my chances of streaming netflix no doubt.

With that in mind I'm at 3 options all what would be deemed low to mid range ask with plenty of power bi amp support and more audio options and formats than you can shake a stick at

Denon 2400h only 299 at the moment the cheap option but fit the life of me I can see why

Sony dn1080 429 the middle option. Tbh only considering this did ease of use. Never got all the functions like arc working on my LG/Yam combo and I'm hoping Sony/Sony will just play nice.

Yam 683 449. The one my heart says yes it's the most expensive option but I know how they sound and work but not sure I can warrant the price over the Denon just cause it's a Yam

All this may be pointless of cause if they fix the TV  but if I get a call to say come pick something I'd like to be well prepared

My Lgs Netflix app is really good, its far better than the pc as it will start playing 60fps content if it has it, instead of me having to fiddle on the pc.
The first time i saw STTNG remastered or whatever it is with 60pfs or whatever ...it blew my mind, the quality was great.

Cant you get a telly that will output a digital audio stream to the amp?

Running it that way would involve running more cables to my tv which would be a bit messy as its wall mounted and given my equipment is next to my reciever not to it would involve runs of long cables as well. The other aspect is optical output on tv's isnt that great.

Option 2 is to get a non sony tv and keep my raspberry pi but that would still involve a new reciever. I'm tempted towards the denon tbh just because of price. I assume arc has gotten a lot better in the last 4-6 years?

OP, Android TV is appalling on Sony TVs, it's slow, glitchy and updated sporadically, Also it's not the greatest for side loading Kodi as all internal apps are locked at 60Hz and it crashes more often than it works. Just a heads up ;)
