So I'm finally getting rid of my shuttle. It's been good but I need more power for the programs I'll be running at University next September. Here's the spec I'm looking at. I already have a HD, Sapphire X1950 Pro 256mb and monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Here's the spec I'm looking at. I just want to check it will all be compatible and there aren't any major updates due on these products any time soon. Also, I'm not great with motherboards so is this a good one?

Drop the corsair RAM and instead get the GeIL Ultra 800MHz [pc-6400]. Going for about 50 quid - worth at least twice as much. Gibbo went insane and made them dirt cheap.

With the money you save you can buy a P5B Deluxe :D

Swap the ram for Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA663)... its a excellent clocker and will reach speeds of the Corsair ram and beyond easily.

The motherboard should be fine but maybe someone else may be able to recommend something better?

The case is fine... I've got a Antec P182 myself and its great... consider it?

That's the stuff.

The Deluxe is a better board overall. More features and a better clocker. If that's what you are after. If overclocking isn't a big deal then you can just go for the P5B :)

Do you plan on doing any overclocking? If so swap the RAM to the Crucial Ballistix as suggested by tsj and get either the Asus P5W Deluxe or the Gigabyte DS3P motherboard. Don't forget to add an after market cooler like the Noctuna to aid with the overclocking.

Whats the Noctuah like? What temps do you idle at? I'm thinking of grabbing one on the way back from uni tomorrow.

I've got my 6420 oc'd to 3.2GHz and it idles at 26/27, peak load it goes to about 38/39.

I already have an Arctic Cooling Alpine 7, which in my old PC used to give me 23 degrees celsius idle on this processor I have now. My shuttle seems to have a problem with its temp sensor. I believe it's a good cooler. I'll take a lool at those mobos. I can't seem to find that RAM though. Link please?

I may overclock the processor eventually, though not sraight away.

If I feel like spending some cash tomorrow I'm gonna pop down and get one. ACF7 Pro doesn't make that much of a difference.

This is the latest revision of the setup. Just want to check that everything is compatible; especially the PSU. Can someone please confirm that PSU is a god quality one and has the relevant connections for the motherboard?

I added the hard drive in the end because I want to build this PC without taking parts out of my old PC (except for the graphics card ofcourse as it has onboard graphics).

The PSU will be fine, it'll run that spec without issues and is fully compaitable with your motherboard.
