Hi Guys and Gals,

Just a final check before I hit the commit button. This is going to replace my current motherboard/processor/ram/cooler and go into my Antec 900 case (My only concern is the cooler fitting, it's about .5mm larger than the ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme which does fit so any comments on this would be nice).

Wasn't too sure about the motherboard but it does seem to get a lot of good reviews and, barring the problem I had with the onboard NIC of my current gigabyte motherboard, it's been performing solidly for the last five years.

Intel i5 3570K - £169.99
Gigabyte Z77 D3H -£82.99
8GB Corsair Vengeance LP - £44.99
Arctic Freezer i30 - £25.79

Total: £323.76

Which is approximately going to cost me €426.44, I'd like to keep the cost under €500 for the whole lot.

If you were me would you change anything?

Fan definitely won't fit. With regards to the RAM, is there any benefit/downside to the different types of RAM. I know these new fangled processors clock differently than my current one so is good RAM as big a deal for getting higher clocks?

outside of benchmarking, ram rarely makes any tangible difference to how your rig performs

what's the maximum clearance for the heatsink?

About 160mm I think, sadly I have no ruler to hand to measure this (shocking for an Engineering graduate :o) I'm basically comparing it to other large coolers that do fit, like the Thermalright mentioned above which it 160.5mm in height and confirmed to fit.

actually having a look at all the options,

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £167.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £82.99
1 x GeIL Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £33.59
Total : £295.97 (includes shipping : £9.50).

then get the TRUE 1156 bolt through kit would be the cheapest.
TRUE is still one of the better coolers on the market and the bolt through kit is so much cheaper than getting another heatsink
cant say which site its from (against forum rules), but google will help =)
