New upgrade...

Hi all,

I’m currently running the following:

Athlon X2 4200 skt 939
ASUS SLI Premium 939
Corsair 2x1GB DDR 3200
X1800xt Radeon
500GB SATA WD Drive

I will get a case as well just not too sure about that yet. The raptor in the following spec will be my main drive with the 500GB as storage.



Can you spot any changes that are needed or recommendation just let me no please

Personally i'd either change the CPU for a E6750 (cheaper and faster then the E6600) or push the price a bit and grab a Q6600 on the very reasonable This Week Only price.

The Raptors are expensive for the slight performance increase, and many will recommend the Seagate 7200.10 or WD AAKS drives, but if you have the cash then why not get a Raptor.

Other then that, the choice between a 2900XT or a 8800 GTS seems to be a lot about personal preference, they both have fairly similar performance. I have an 8800GTS and am very happy with it!

Vote for the Seagate, very good drives and very quiet.

Bought 2 for my RAID and they are a darn sight quieter than my old SATA I Seagate thay i use for backup

Also forgot to mention, I will probably get a aftermarket cooler and do the odd bit of overclocking

Could also move to vista for DX10 for Crysis!
