New Mobo/Rig

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thinking of a new mobo for an Intel Core 2 E6750. I've always been an AMD/ATi man in the past so this is all new to me!
Thinking of the EVGA nForce 680i SLi will it be ok with OCZ PC2-8500 RAM @ 1066MHz? can some one please help/advise me on my purchase? Should I go for nVidia or Intel's P35 chipset?
My new rig:
Hiper 670W PSU, will my Hiper 580W be OK for my new rig?
EVGA 680i SLi
Deskstar 500GB SATA II
OCZ 2GB PC2-8500 RAM
BFG GeForce 8800 GTX OC2 768MB GDDR3 VGA
Intel Core2 Duo E6750

Should I also make the switch to nVidia for VGA? or go for the HD2900XT?

Thanks in advance guys!

Jonnygrunge.

Have you purchased any of those components yet or is that what your thinking of getting?

EDIT: What kind of budget do you have for your new rig?

I have not bought anything yet! Budget of a grand. Might go for a different CPU though Q6600! With an Arctic Freezer 7. Any coments or advice on a rig?

EVGA will take 1066 memory but if your wanting to spend over £170 on a board then you may as well get the solid Asus Blitz Formula :D

Get DDR 800 if your going to do some overclocking, if not then the 8500 is fine.

Good choice for the 8800GTX and Deskstar HDD ;)

The Hiper will be able to take what you have there but the hype about the failure rates of the 580W it may be a wise step to go for the Corsair 520W or 620W.

Edit: The Q6600's are beasts of CPU's but if your getting one, then the 620W will be the one you need and also the 3rd Party Cooler as well.

Nice Rig!!!!! :D

Now all you need is your own Electric Grid ;)

Thinking of changing RAM as I wont use SLi to GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (£70.49)
How overfclockable is this RAM will it do 900MHz @ 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V? if so, I've heard 450MHz is a good benchmark for FSB. What do you think? Opinions please or should I stick with the OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK) (£105.74)
