hi, I built myself a pc last year and i m now considering investing around £400 in it to make it last for another year at least. I mostly use my pc for work and gaming.
This are the components that i have at the moment:

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 oem
ASUSTeK P5K-E
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX
2gb corsair ram
Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro
Antec P182
Intel Core 2 duo E6750
1 Samsung 500GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 16MB Cache - OEM
Dell 24” (2407FPW)
Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro
Corsair 620W HX Series Modular PSU

So basically I would like to invest a bit into making this pc better and have a longer life, if any nice soul could give me a tiny bit on advice on what to replace for the best performance i would be most appreciative.:D:D

is your PC overclocked?

if not i recommend you overclock it, you want about 3GHz as a minimum if you get one of the cards above

its not overclocked at the moment, got some nasty temps when i did last time so kept it on default settings for the moment, i think that maybe i should change the cpu cooler too maybe. tx for all ur advice everyone. Do u think I should go for the 64 bits or windows 7 RC?

well the Windows 7 RC is available till somewhen in 2010 i cant remember of the top of my head afterwhich you will have to buy a full copy of Windows 7 is looking very good incl the 64 bit edition of 7 although i must say vista 64 bit is actually very good now no driver issues with my soundcard, graphics etc

cool, thanks, i m in the process of downloading windows 7 and will hopefully have it on by tonight. I will then order a new graphic card and some ram. anyone could recommend a some decent ram and maybe a new cpu cooler as well as a cpu? ty everyone for ur answers:)

AFAIK Windows 7 RC is available till about march 2010 =] my experiance has been very good has issues with a wifi driver for a while but have sorted that now Stupid WNDA3100!

does anyone think that maybe op should save some more money and go I7? they are very powerful cpus and should think they could last for a long time yet, other then that i would say graphics card, i have a gtx260 and love it.

if you want to get a new cpu i would say buy a Q6700 or something with a bit more power a Q9400 would be very good, or most inbetween if you want quad core, dual core wise i would say get an E8400. cooler wise? errr.. one of these would be good or one of these twined with some nice 120mm fans. for ram i would say this set would be good, the speed of them will help with overclocking and not limit you like slower ram would, ocz are a good company and i have some and they have never failed me, plus they are on offer :)

hope i helped :P
