Your workload is actually one of the few examples where I would recommend getting 9900k over 9700k. That hyperthreading could come in handy while rendering.
 
Are you set on Intel? New Ryzen’s out next month and the 3900k will probably outperform the 9700 for the same price or less. Plus you’ll be getting PCI-E 4 with the X570 boards.

intel should still hold the lead, but Ryzen 3000 speed and IPC should cut if down quite a bit . Ryzen 8 core could be worth a shout and x570 aorus boards built even better then z390 boards!
