Indeed , damn games are becoming to advanced for Hardware to chug out preformance i say they freeze software advancedment (in games anyway) :P

Ive a book called "Game design: Secrets of the Sages", in which one of the HL1 guys was talking about how they only 2mb GFX cards to play with back then and had to come up with a really clever way of programming and designing the textures in order for it to work.

The quicker the technology advances, the worse the coding design!

Aye, same with the original Unreal game. That engine was so tight it just ran great and looked fantastic on anything, pretty much. Of course that may have had something to do with Glide I guess.
