New V5 - Numberplate not transferrable?

I've just received my new V5 after taking the private plates off my car in preperation for selling it - Oooo, red on the documents now.
Anyway, was just glancing at the document and found a usual statement:

1. The car was declared new at first registration

I think I've seen that on every single V5 I've ever owned.
However there was also the following:

2. The numberplate is non-transferrable

Now the plate is nothing special at all - just a standard 56 plate.
I'm just wondering why a flag of "no plate transfer" might be put on a V5 and am I the only one to see this on such a document?

Normal when you take privates off a car, and get a plate re-allocated. It just means that the plates now on the car cannot be transferred off it to another vehicle.

So the car was re-issued with it's original plate when I took the private one off.
And because it had private plates on the original one now gets a non-transfer flag.

Can see that, not sure why.
But unless somebody was called Michael Denzel Zachary they wouldn't really want the plate anyway :)

Wasn't it to stop people with old dateless plated mopeds from transferring/selling the dateless plate. And then getting another one issued for free and again transferring/selling it on, and so on.

Ah - that makes sense.
To stop a constant streem of dateless plates being issued to the same vehicle.
Just strange such an obscure and very basic 56 plate would get the same flag.
