Up untill a week or so ago i was running a AMD 7970 OC in my rig but it has since went to silicon heaven.
I was restarting my system 3-4 times a night during gaming sessions due to my screen freezing with a nice 70's style wall paper.
I have since replaced my old AMD 6950 into my rig and so far all is good no reboots required.

However in order to play the 2 MMO games i run normally ( SW:TOR and WOW )
i have had to lower my video settings within each game to keep a relativley smooth frame rate of above 30fps.

For refference the video card is within an Intel i5 3750k (ivy bridge) system running at 4.2 Ghz with 16 Gb or ram.

I have a modest budget and am looking for a current Gen video card which will out perform my old AMD 7970 and allow me to turn my settings back up to full and still achieve between 30-60 fps when the **** hits the fan in game :D

I am not an AMD or Nvidia Fan boy so will consider recommended cards from both camps, i just want the best i can get for my money most likely somewhere between the £150-£200 range for New

As nice as that card is Gents unfortunately by the time i factor in post and packing it takes me a good £50 over my max budget really.
unfortunatly due to my location i dont benifet from the OCuK Forum members loyal free P&P unless the item is under approx £40
It may be time to start trolling through the adds in the MM to see if i can find one of those or similar within my budget

Well the only real upgrade is that, anything new at that price will be worse than your current card

You might be able to pick up a 290X then yes for £160ish

AMD’s partners will begin to sell Radeon R9 380, R9 370 and R7 360 graphics cards as well as their derivatives on the 18th of June, 2015. The flagship products – the AMD Radeon R9 390-series – will hit the market on the 24th of June, 2015, reports BenchLife web-site citing undisclosed sources.

After seeing this in another post here in the GFX sub forums i think i should try and hold out till nearer the end of june begining of july as there should be a Glut of R 290X Cards availeable via the MM.

Either that or do some really hard cutting back on the sweeties to save up the extra pennies required for a new R 290X or possible R 390X depending on thier initial RRP

If im very lucky the R9 290x may become sub £200 once the R9 390x start hitting the shelves in great numbers
I agree i think i should be patient and wait till the next generation of cards are out but at least i now know the min spec card to be looking at as replacment for my 7970 which will give me some increased performance without breaking the bank.
