New Virgin Media Modem/Router hub

Oh god no.

Hopefully you can disable the routing functionality and plug it into the WAN port of something better.

Probably can, Ive heard they have been used for the 100 and 200 trials so they would have to pack some punch and have a decent firmware.

Yep doesn't mention XXL so not sure why you're confused.

New customers: Free with Broadband L or XL

Existing customers: Free with Broadband L or XL if you've never had broadband with us, £60 when you upgrade to Broadband L, or free when you upgrade to Broadband XL.

Never mind.

Seems strange that they'd develop two rather than have one that covers all tiers...still, the 50Mb version is obviously significantly more expensive to produce.

Looks like they got it wrong on the site or have a separate model coming for 50mbit users I guess.

Wonder if existing users with the Dlink 615 can get a free upgrade?

We pay £38 for 20mb BB, the most basic TV package (M, which isn't sold any more!) and basic phone line. I just called to try and blag a better deal or a free router and they were having none of it.

Winds me up that as a long term customer (10+ years) we never seem to get the same discounts and deals that new or upgrading customers do.

i recently moved to VM 10mb and got one of these netgear things AND the dlink router lol.

so far its been fine apart from the wifi, i had to manually set the channel from auto to one of my choosing the wifi was unusable with it set to Auto.

my main pc is wired into it and its working fine.

Well from their point of view, you're hardly a high value customer :p.

They're desperately trying to push people off the M TV package, and people on it will generally find it very hard to get anything other than the standard multi-buy discount.

That's fair enough, but it still doesn't explain why new customers will apparently get a permanently better deal than someone with the same services who has been a customer for a good decade or so. £38 is better than £0, surely? I'll try and get through to retentions, India are worse than useless.

For clarity, what I'm essentially trying to tell them is that I want the same deal that new customers get, I don't see how benefits them to deny me this as it makes me want to cancel my sub entirely.
