New Virgin model, now can't get it working with router

Hi,

Have Linksys wireless router, worked fine before i swapped over to the new cable modem Virgin sent me. Now, the model works fine connected directly to the NIC on the PC, but connected to the router..nothing. Can access the router config page..and can see an IP has been assigned to this PC..but can 't get internet access - the DNS doesn't seem to be picking up correctly through the router..but is through the model on its own.

Any help please.

You are unplugging the power and then plugging it back in again after changing device, right? Every time you change what the cable modem is plugged into, it needs to be power cycled.
