New virgin modem, plug and play install?

I’ve had a problem with my NTL 120 modem, basically it connects for around 15 mins and then disconnects, if I pull out the power supply and then plug it straight back in it works again (for 15 mins). I eventually got the guy at the call centre to send me a new modem.

My question is, can I just plug in the new modem and expect a broadband connection? (I connect via a Netgear router)

When i got my new modem to handle 20mb i had to ring up and register it,only took a matter of mins.

yeah you will need virgin to swap the details of your old modem for the new one, i had a problem with my modem and i took an old modem from one of my dads properties, tried installing that instead but it had been disconnected, the guy wouldnt register it for me, said he had to send me a new modem and then register that one, you cant just simply plug in a modem and expect it to work, or else everybody with virgin would be getting their own modems and free internet

Anyone no the right phone number to get it activated?

There should have been a piece of paper in with the modem with instructions and the number to call.
