I'm just about to install vista home premium 32 bit on my HTPC,i've been running xp home on it for years but have decided to try vista out due to it's extra media capabilities and it's working tv overscan correction with 8800 cards.

Just looking for any advice before I go ahead with the install,my hardware is DFI Ultra D/X2 3800+/8800gts 320MB/audigy 2 zs/Nebula digi tv card/Toshiba HD DVD drive/2GB Ballistix PC4000

I've found vista drivers for all of my hardware but i'm slightly concerned by the apparent large number of issues with vista and older hardware, have the Audigy 2 EAX problems been solved yet?

I'm using power dvd Ultra for playback of HD-DVD movies,is this o.k in vista?

Any info regarding the above and any other useful tips before I begin would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I just recently installed for the 1st time just go ahead and do it. On update it picked virtually most of my drivers up automatically and I just had to install a few from my back up drive, but I think your going to have probs with the audigy though but have a look on the creative web site 1st for drivers I sure they were asking a fiver for them though.

For optimizing try Blackvipers Found Processor Explorer great for seeing what my svhost.exe are hiding. loads of sites for vista but had a browse through this site a bit patronising but understandable. Widgets from here but I'm sure you have search the forums for stuff.

Oh and enjoy.

Thanks for info mate,very useful.:)

I'm currently in limbo trying to decide whether to go for the install with my current hardware, some of which I know will be a headache or wait a day or 2 and buy some new kit,an XFI and Nova T500 would probably save me a lot of hassle!
