New VR Rig Build Opinions!?

Hi all so my Vives on order after the store demo and its now time to settle on my new Rigs specs and id like your opinions on what im planning :)

Phanteks P400S Case
Asus Z170 Maximus Hero VIII
Skylake i7 6700K @ 4.6Ghz
Corsair Vengeance 16Gb @ 3200Mhz
Asus 980Ti Strix DC3 OC
Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x4
Crucial MX100 256GB SATA
360mm asetek liquid Cooled
Coolermaster Real Power Pro 850w "RS-850-EMBA"
Windows 10 Home
 
Im particularly interested to hear your opinions on the water cooler choice im still considering the Kraken X61 the H115i and the Triton 280mm setup and weather my power supply which is from my old Rig will hold up
 
Looks like a solid build. I'd probably drop the i7 down to an i5 to save some money. It's unlikely to make much of a difference in games.
GC choice is a good one if you can't wait for Pascal later this year.

You might be better off making a new thread for the cooler in the Watercooling section so you get some specific advice for experts.
 
cant wait for pascal I waited to see what was announced at the nvidea key note but caved when I found a spanking deal on the oc strix and with the division and far cry so ordered that up already and the case which I'm very impressed with for the price!!

I might start a new thread for the cooler
 
H115i owner here. 6700K running cool at 4.6, my volts are pretty high tho most chips will be able to do more. I'd replace the stock fans on it tho or set a custom fan curve if you want it to be silent.

Why are you going for 4 M.2 drives? 0.o You could just get 2 512gb

I will be using the Rig for VR gaming, photo editing and GoPro footage editing mainly.

I was going to question the ram as there are 2x hero z170 bundles ATM

6700k @ 4.5ghz with 16gb @ 3200hz £666
Or
6700k @ 4.6ghz with 16gb @ 3000hz £708

:/ don't really understand the price difference as the better one seems cheaper

Yea that's what I'm planning spoke to them yesterday and it's only the water rad that's out of stock and I can upgrade to bigger one or wait for stock on the 29th I just don't understand the price difference the better bundle seems cheaper!?? Unless the 3200 ram holds back the overclock or somthing???
