Just did a clean install on Windows 10 onto my PC. I have an SSD for the OS and a HDD for everything else.

For the clean installation, I just took the SATA cable end out of the HDD and installed to the SSD.

Installation all went fine, but just plugged the SATA cable back into the HDD and rebooted, and Windows doesn't see it at all. Not in Device Manager or Disk Management.

Booted into the BIOS and that seems to see it just fine.

Any ideas?

IS the boot order correct? is it a GBT board?

You sure its not in disk management? and just needs assigning a drive letter?

Chipset drivers installed? Third party Sata drivers installed? Or as Stulid has stated check Computer Management as you may need to assign drive letter.

Fixed, bit oddly in the end.

Went into the BIOS and changed the mode from AHCI to IDE. Failed to boot, so went back into BIOS and changed it back to AHCI, and when I booted in there it was.

Any reason why just changing the mode and then changing it back suddenly caused it to appear in Windows?
