We have an Electrolux EW1200I washer dryer which is intergrated in our kitchen. The drum sound knackered when it spins and even just turning it around when its off makes a noise.
I contacted Electrolux and it was puchased in 2002, so no wonder really. It'll have had it's fair amount of use. It was here when we purchased so wasnt sure how old it was. The dimensions are H820 x W600 x D540

Electrolux only sell one washer dryer, e776w402bi but this is £900, the size is perfect 819 x 596 x 540. It's just the cost

Would people here recommend spending that money on another Electrolux which might last another 20 years or would we be fine spending £500 on something of similar dimensions from Currys like 'Beko' or 'Logik' AEG seems to be around the same price as the Electrolux.

@Guest2 did they offer you a fixed price repair circa £169. Give us the pnc (nine digit number starting with 914) and I'll check parts availability.

Edit to say lux owns AEG brand

New one bought - £849.99 direct with AEG and £50 for fitting the new in intergrated units, removal and disposal of old. (AEG 7000 Series L7WE7631BI)

The cheaper ones (£350 - £600) seems to be H840 height and Currys intergrated fiting service is £115. Id rather keep the fitting and appliance with the same company in case there are problems "Currys fitted it wrong"

The most boring £900 i've ever spent!

No, the y told me it cannot be repaired as its over 20 years old. - but said I was free to repair it with another company, though not recommended due to its age

Please read the manual :D

It has a clean function make sure to either add drier to it or run drier clean cycle regularly if you use the drier frequently.

Unlike your old one the condenser is part of the tub and if maintenance isn't followed it can block :)

Might be some new rules they've come out with, had heard they're tighting down on fpr (fixed price repair) no more than two faults per fpr etc

We always (for 5 years) have used the same setting to wash and dry. Other than whites which we wash at a high temperature but still dry.
Ive got the manual here and yes, I have read it

@Guest2 how are you finding the new washer dryer? We’re currently planning new kitchen and looking at getting an integrated washer dryer and found this thread!

Fantastic so far.
The default settings take way too long though so we set 30c wash & dry to 3 hours total and clothes are still dry enough. Default is something crazy like 6 hours 30?!
Also IMO worth it for AEG/Electrolux to fit it and take away the old one.

How are you still finding it? I've read some negative reviews on john lewis about performance with shirts or other things that might want ironed that the top spin and tumble bakes in creases while the second-from-top leaves stuff still soggy. I was going to go for pretty much the same model you got but a bit turned off by the reviews.

I was most things on wash dry 30c / 1000 spin with time reduced to around 3.5 hours.
Everything comes out dry enough to not mess around with a drying rail but not crispy dry.
Bedding we wash at 60 on 1200 spin and its dry ~4 hours 30 with time reduced.

I know you've got a new one now but it probably just needed a new main bearing for the drum, they can be a bit of a pain to get to but can usually be fixed for a few quid and can give you another 10 years of service!

Maybe, but it was over 20 years old.
Id have had to pay for fitting including dragging it out the fitted units, repair then refitting (plus the parts cost) …then it might not work or break again in a few years.

Easier to let AEG do it all!

Yeah that's very true, it's only worth doing if you can do it all yourself, once you start having to pay someone else it's just not worth it.

It's annoying though, waste of a potentially good appliance. Most newer white goods don't even last that long, it's crazy how many must be going to the scrap heap.

Yeah it's a shame there isn't a culture of repairing stuff like that. I kept my old hotpoint washing machine going for probably 7 or 8 years after it had its first problem. Had to throw in the towel when the electronic bits went funny but the other fixes were cheap and simple so i was happy to keep it going.

21 years it had a good innings. I expect repairing/replacing the drum with fitting would have been ~£300, then it might have lasted a few more years.
This new one is a lot quieter and actually drys our clothes though! Even on a lowish dry setting, we hardly ever bother handing stuff on a drying rail any more.
