New Washing Machine - Miele

Hi All,

Looking to buy a new washer, and I've narrowed it down to a Miele, but I've got 2 models I'm considering.

Either, a W5872 - http://www.miele.co.uk/washing-machines/W5872-EDITION111-8/ - or a W5877 - http://www.miele.co.uk/washing-machines/W5877-EDITION111-9/.

The W5877 appears to basically be the same, but has the steam care system to help reduce ironing requirement by up to 50% - always nice - has the quiet run option, and has a lit drum.

I'm not too worried about the light, but the steam care system sounds good.

Just curious if anyone has either of these. I know Miele is goof as I used to sell them years ago, but interested if anyone can recommend any genuine competitors, I'm interested.

There was one I had thought about, which is a Samsung WF1124XAC. Looks ok, but obviously a lesser machine. 5 Year guarentee on the machine, and 10 year on the motor ... interested in views on that too.

Have you looked into purchasing a Miele washing machine from their factory outlet in Abingdon? They sell B-Grade stock at half the price of rrp. I bought all Miele appliances from there and haven't had any issues.
 
Miele washing machines are literally the best. They last on average 20 years +

It's a bit like comparing a Rolls Royce Phantom Drop Top to a Austin Metro with a Sunroof. Both of them get you from A to B with the sun on your head, but in somewhat different standard and quality.

Not so sure that analogy works with a white good to be honest. Its probably more like comparing a BMW 3 series with a Mondeo.
 
I think the problem you have there is the suggestion that Beko, a cheap Turkish make, is a "top of middle" class leader (the Mondeo) which would really be something more like a Bosch/AEG, with brands like Siemens above them, and a Miele, literally the best you can buy, is 'only' a 3 series.

Miele seriously is in a different class. Its stupid things like the quality of the hinges/door catch/the fact it has a cast iron cradle opposed to concrete... The list goes. It is properly engineered.

However, if you think spending £200 on what will be a family washing machine is the right way to do it, I'm obviously talking to the wrong audience :)

I just knew there were several Miele owners on here, so curious if anyone had those models.
 
But you don't get pleasure from a washing machine like you do with a car, they both wash clothes, one just lasts longer, which it should as its 5 times the price. You chuck your clothes in, stick some detergent in and press a button and that's where the interaction stops.

I have a Miele Vac, and its great, but I also have a dyson and an Electrolux, they all clean the carpets quite well, just as a beko,siemens.Hoover will clean your clothes.

single = beko very reliable for a single person where it won't get much use.

family = something reliable as it's likely used on a daily basis although I see miele as overkill

nothing worse than your kids school uniforms ending up stuck inside a broken washing machine

Miele should be good for twenty (yes, twenty) years. That's £50 a year, or just under £1 a week for no hassle through childhood. Cheap to me !
 
The new Mieles are very quiet. You can't really go wrong with either of your choices.

Whenever I've had to do a wash at my parents' I totally forget about it until late at night because the damn thing is so quiet :(
