I just got a Silverstone TJ07 case and I figured I should upgrade my watercooling kit (mostly cause its a pretty old XSPC X20 watercooling kit, with a Delta V3 waterblock and a 240mm Radiator). I figured I should try to build my own kit this time rather than getting another kit. I have some ideas on what parts to get but I figured I'd ask around and see if theres any advice on the setup.
The initial idea is that I would like to have a single loop setup just for the CPU, with a 360mm radiator at the top (case has been modified to allow this), with the later addition of a GPU waterblock and a 480mm radiator below the midplate when I get round to replacing the graphics card. This setup is geared more towards performance more than noise reduction, so I can pretty safely rule out low fan speed optimised radiators such as the Black Ice SR-1
For the tubing, my current setup uses 3/8" ID - 1/2" OD (10mm-13mm). I heard that for this case, using thicker tubing would be better. I was thinking around 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD (13mm-19mm) or 1/2" ID - 5/8" OD (13-mm-16mm)
Here are some parts I was considering
Rads
- Hardware Labs Black Ice 360 GTX (I can typically find this for around £85-90)
- XSPC Rasa RX360 (although this seems to be sold out everywhere atm and anywhere that still has it is selling them for £95-100)
- EK CoolStream RAD XTX 360 (This seems to be the cheapest at around £75-80 but I'm not sure how it compares to the other two.)
Pump
- Laing 18W DDC-Pump 12V DDC-1T Plus (£59.99 on Overclockers)
- Laing D5 Vario Pump (£79.99. I've heard really good things about this but I'm not sure if its worth the difference between this and the DDC)
With either of these, I was planning on having a bay reservoir, probably the XSPC Single 5.25” Bay Reservoir.
CPU Waterblock
As far as waterblocks go, I am looking for one that is compatible with a 1366 socket, but I would it to be compatible with a 2011 socket, in the event that I would need to upgrade my CPU.
- EK Supreme HF (liking the sound of this one, based on price, which seems to be around £50, and a friend recommended this one)
- XSPC Rasa (heard some good things about this, seems to be a little hard to find)
- Koolance CPU-370 (heard many good things about this one, but at around £80-85, not sure how much better it is than the other two)
Any advice on these parts or any suggestions on other parts would be welcome. As far as budget goes, I would prefer to stay as close to £200 as possible for the pump/reservoir, radiator and waterblock.
