Hi guys,

I've been asked to look a brand new HP Pavilion desktop PC that has Windows 8.1 on it. Being eligible for the Windows 10 update, how soon can they upgrade? Will they have to install all the current OS's updates first etc. and wait for the white flag to appear in the system tray? The reason I'm asking is because their broadband speed is shocking and I won't have time to wait for updates - I was hoping to just be able to install straight from the DVD media I've already made :)

Any ideas?

use the tool to create the W10 USB stick or download the ISO and burn to disk and then just run that from the PC and it will start the upgrade process

Make sure the current OS ia activated first though.

Excellent. Yep, already got the Windows 10 disk. The native OS is already activated, I would assume. If it isn't, it soon can be ;)

Thanks.

Remember, you must upgrade your Windows 8.1 from within windows. Don't just boot from your Windows 10 disk, it won't activate. Run setup.exe off the disk from within windows. Once it's all done and Windows 10 is activated, then you can do a clean install if you wish.
