Sup guys. Just having some minor problems with my comp - all my games bar two won't work! :(
I've recently just installed Windows 7 again, cos I upgraded and the new mobo didn't go well with the previous Windows. Now none of my previous games work anymore. I thought, eh, that's cool, I'll just reinstall them, no biggie.

But this still doesn't work. I have a feeling it's something to do with DirectX, but exhausted pretty much all the options there.
Just Cause 2 and Crysis (original) still work; gpu drivers up to date; no windows updates available

Any suggestions would be muchos appreciated. Pretty bored atm! Thanks guys.

Juan

what happens when you try and run them ?

are they installing to the right program files folder, progam files(x86) if your running iwndows 7 64 bit ?

Have you updated DirectX if you think it might be an issue?

Download DirectX End-User Runtime here.

Run it and it will download and install all the updates you might need for DirectX 9.

When I try and run them, they start up for like 4 seconds then "(Game) has stopped working" window comes up.
Nah, I install them on a separate hard drive, but will try the standard program files.
Surveyor:
already tried that buddy, says update not needed as an up-to-date version is already installed.

Thanks for the replies guys

I once had a similar trouble. Turned out my anti virus was being difficult and decided to block it.

if they are oldish games try right clicking on shortcut and run as admin or you can go to compatibility mode.

i had same problems with the sims2 and older games like that

hope this helps

have you checked the event viewer to see if any errors are being logged after you run the games?

Your hard drive might have its permissions set so the user account for the old copy of windows is the owner for all the files, do they work if you right click the exe and run them as admin?
