Hi,

Car just passed the MoT \o/ :D

However, the Windscreen has a stone chip that is just within the 10mm allowance. It was cracks which will spread so basically I need to do something about it before next year.

It isnt a heated one and is hopefully not too much to replace, but I keep hearing on the radio about a windscreen repair which can be done - is it worth going for this? Anyone had it done?

Thanks dudes! :D

Check with your insurance company - repairs will be free and a replacement should only be £50 with no effect on your excess.

i'm pretty sure the windscreen repair will only fix chips that havn't started to crack. If its cracking there ain't nothing you can do about it :(

Do you have fully comp insurance as that should replace your windscreen for about £50 without effecting your claims history etc

Yup comp at directline.

Why would it matter if its started to crack?

as i say if its cracking you won't be able to get it fixed, they will replace it though - give them a ring and they'll put you onto their prefered supplyer

I understand mate, thanks.

Thanks guys, Autoglass look good, Ill see what my insurance has to say :)
Time to get some money back for being a good, claims free driver all these years! :D

mine had a crack before it's MOT (failed on this point too) and the garage got someone to sort it and it passed (original screen)

Thats encouraging thanks mate. Cross your fingers folks, Ill try and get it repaired. :D

Had mine fixed under insurance, basically the criteria was - if the entire damage fits under a pound coin then it will be repaired...anything over that and they replace. The fifty quid excess charge only applied on the replacement IIRC, dunno about the repair as had a huge crack on mine.
