Hmmm, first bump in 4 years of driving has to happen in the second week I put my new car on the road :(

I lift share and pulled into my colleagues tiny drive as usual Monday morning. He came out and told me his son in law needs to move him van so I need to let let him out. Feeling tired as usual but for some reason I turned the wheel and start pulling out when you really need to pull out straight with this kind of drive. BANG! I looked, thought o thats lucky just clipped my wing mirror on his gate. I get out and see this in my wing. :(

Could be worse, could have hit the sill/door. But im so angry with myself! What do you thinks best? Its not gone completely through the paint but its quite scuffed and has a rather large dent. Im thinking buy same colour wing off ebay and bang it on? What you guys think?

Would be the cheapest as well. Looks an easy job, 5 bolts + two rivets to take out to remove the wing. If I found one in the same colour, lined it up properly before i put it on and polished + waxed car all over, would you be able to tell? I hope not :) I ll even spray the new rivets inside the bay so it looks original LOL Trouble is im a perfectionist.

Get the dent out, prep and paint? It's a bit extreme changing the wing for a little ding like that.

But I think you would be able to tell if you sprayed it? A new wing would be cheaper?

Join the club :p

The problem you will have is paint fade. Red car paint always fades. unless you can find a wing the same colour and with the same amount of fade you will always see a difference.

Same problem if he resprays the wing though. Unless he sprays the rest of the car, it'll never match exactly.

Very true. but, also bear in mind that there is usually several shade variations of the same colour. So he would have to be really lucky to find a perfect wing in the right shade of that colour. Although as he said it would most probably be cheaper than getting a body shop to pop out that ding and spray it.

No, I think I ll get a very near perfect match if I get a wing in the same colour of around the same age AND get the whole car full machine polished. You would have to be a specialist then to see it I think. ;)

Car back from bodyshop

Well I got it fixed and some large scrapes taken out the front bumper for 200 notes cash in hand. The new pics are links for now and I will sort them tmw at work on photoshop.

Lookin Good

Im impressed with the job. It was a little place in the hills in north wales, no receipt/name etc ;) I was a little worred but he talked me through the repair and told me what paints he used etc and he oven baked it. He blended it into the door, taking all trim off. No overspray etc. If anyone needs a good cheap bodyshop around north wales/cheshire I ll give you his number.
