New Wireless Router Stuck On Initialize LCP

As above im installing wireless at my girlfriends and the internet is connecting but wont authenticate it just keeps saying initailizing LCP and nothing else happens

any help would be great its a netgear DG834PN router if thats any help

yeah checked the username and password still couldn't get it working

there on AOL.......

its not even getting on to authentication stage it gets up to initailizing LCP and stops not even an error saying LCP failed
