Hey guys im about to create a new workstation machine - with the following spec.

Core2 6600
Abit AW9D-Max
4gb, Corsair XMS2 dominator PC2-8500
Quadro 4500 Gfx
ThermalTake Tai Chi Tower (with the watercooling)
Tagen 580W modular PSU
74gb Raptor Main HDD
500GB WD secondary drive
(above both in OcUK silentMaxx alu HDD enclosures
Gigabyte I-Ram
Windows XP - 64bit

This machine will essentially be used for a Maya 3d workstaton
I dont fancy spending more on the ram for 8gb, and will use the I-ram for a pagefile drive with my current machines old DDR1 memory (4gb).

The HDDs, gfx card and win64 i already own and are currently in my work machine.

I would appreciate anyone pointing out any imcompatibilities to this rig, or any suggestions on what could/should be changed - im not massively limited by cost but dont want to waste money for the hell of it.
Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

appreciate the suggestions, and yes i chose that ram as i hope to be overclocking - using the tai chi case water cooling (not a large overclock - hope for just over 3ghz, same as my home box)

I've looked at the HDDs you suggested and considered getting them for raid (like i mentioned in my original post i have the HDDs already tho inc the 500gb).

I would consider getting different ram, but as this machine will be pushed very hard for long periods the proper ramsinks on the dominator chips looked like a good idea.

isnt the badaxe locked.. as in no overclocking without a mod.. or is it a simple bios change.. Intels own was one of my first considerations, as itll be the most stable, and they make quality boards.

The ram im quite settled on i think, as my machine gets a hammering in work, so the heatsinks alone make it worthwhile - i dont need the speed to be honest, just liked the design for the heatsinks - looks like they will actually work.
