So there is an article on IGN about a new X-COM game coming out on PC & 360.

Link

And it's going to be a FPS!

Sounds interesting not sure how well it will go down with the fans of X-COM but it could be quiet interesting to see what they do with it. EDIT: Upon thinking about it, an FPS game should not be attached to X-COM.

As long as it isn't like Area 51. ;)

They need to release the original X-Com Enemy Unknown on the marketplace. With tweaked visuals and a few extra weapons etc.. I would happily spend some money on that, but not this.

Ummmmm I dont want a X-Com FPS :( I want a Remake of old one with loads of extras and better graphics but with MP.

Yes I know UFO2000 does it and its fun but there aint many peeps playing it as they dont know about it.

SO here it goes

GOOGLE UFO2000 ;)

So a game has had a big name slapped on the box, but is developed by no one involved in the creation of the original titles and bares no resemblance to its predecessors?

Ladies and gentlemen, i feel we have another farcry 2 on our hands.

[EDIT] Oh and 2k Marin, the developers of this, were responsible for the porting of Bioshock to the PS3 and the creation of the incredibly disappointing Bioshock 2. So don't let the epic atmosphere and decent storytelling of Bioshock get your hopes up, they had no part in it.

Is that the nearest to the original ? I have seen a few versions around the web, do you know which is best ???

UFO2000 is very good mate providing you can actually find some one to play hehe me and me bro use to so was real good fun.

Install it have a look around and play against your self to get the hang of it.

Theres loads of mods for it eg new weapons, units etc.

If ya have a pda theres all so

Pocket ufo that is very close to the original and very very good

Yep me to I have all the x-coms made for ps1 :p eg terror from the deep etc etc woooot loved em all still do.

I play pocket ufo on me HP RX3715 and me SPV M700 :)

Bah it's not even an xcom game, it looks like it's just a random game with the xcom name slapped on it.

Wish they would remake the first one, had a blast playing it recently, tried to play TFTD again but realised why I never really bothered in the first place.

I agree I wont buy this remake tbh.

And yes TFDT wasent as good as the first but when ya got to a dock mission was ok.I did not like the under water missions

I have had a look at some forums regarding this news. We are all saying the same about the fact its an fps !!! Why cant they release the original two (Enemy Unknown + Terror From The Deep) and keep it how they were ?

Everyone is screaming for and updated version of the originals, Turn based combat, 3d isometric view. Its not hard. We don't want X-Com as a ******* FPS.

Update:

Oh dear.

First-person shooter XCOM launches on 9th March 2012, 2K Games has announced.

It launches on 6th March in the US.

The game is no longer a PC and Xbox 360 exclusive. 2K Games today confirmed plans to launch a PlayStation 3 version.

"XCOM is a gripping tactical action experience set in mid-century America, where the player leads an elite field team of specialised government agents into battle - combining deep, visceral gunplay with powerful sci-fi abilities," reads the official blurb.

"Together, they face a vicious and otherworldly enemy, who conspires to shatter our world and rebuild it in their own image."

You play Special Agent William Carter and his team against the threat of human extinction. Guess XCOM is now a squad-based shooter, then.

You "strike surgically" against aliens, capture their technology and turn their weapons against them.

its not often I fell like booing a developer..but I will today

boooooooooooo!

what a travesty

I liked the original UFO: Enemey Unknown and even the sequal was okish. After that it seemed to go in a different direction.

I guess by creating an FPS there will be more interest than what they once did many years ago.
