i just got a new xtreme gamer soundcard..what im interested is that are there any settings or options that i should know of that enchance sound quality etc.

ive got altec lansing 5021 speakers and also hd555 headphones..i normally play cs1.6 and in game theres seems to be a bit too much base but i can sort that out..

another question i have is that is it better to plug my headphones to my speakers which i have been doing till this day or now that ive got a proper soundcard would it be better to plug it directly to my soundcard?

also my microphone seems to be constantly on like when i tap it i can hear it playback from my headphones...it doesnt happen when i talk or anything just when i tap it.

oh and theres this high pitched sound on the left side of my headphones any one know what may be causing that? ok this high pitched thing is gettin pretty annoying please help :(

i know i asked a lot of questions but thanks for the help :)

hmmm

i only get the mic thing when its in 'entertainment' mode, when its in 'game' mode it doesnt happen

enable EAX in 1.6 if it isnt already

i would personally plug the headphones in the sound card

no idea about headphone problem...

out of interest you play 1.6 competitively for clan or just fun ?

i play competitively :)

but yeh this headphone thing is quite annoying anyone have any suggestions?

Where do I plug my mic in? Is it the one next to the green socket. Thats what is says on the box, only that my mic isnt working properly and the optical light is on all the time, should it be?

the mic socket is the one thats on the far left...and the program youre using say vent or ts make sure its using the x fi as the output and input

ive noticed that the hissing sound doesnt occur when i switch to game mode so im guessing its something to do with the entertainment mode i was on...
