no this will be the same, mine was a new format too.

tell us what u think.

Hmm probs..

k both before and after i installed any driver or any thing apart from windows cd , when i plug the lead for the monitor into the slot closest to the MB the screen is very dark.. so i must plug the monitor into the slot furthest away from the MB ( e.g top end of card )
when i did this after reformat all was fine ,, @ say 800 x 600

then i installed the driver as per the instructions above.. it all went fine. pc rebooted after instalation.. got the bios screen etc,, and xp started to load ,, but the the ress or something changed and the monitor went into stand by,, like it is getting no signal..

i started xp up in safe mode and got screen ok.. so then i decieded to change the plug that the monitor was plugged into on the card to the other 1 ( closest to MB ) .. rebooted and pc now loads xp fin,,and card seems to be installed ok.. but screen is all dark and blurry,, i have tried pressing the auto settings etc on the montior but does not change it,, anyway i am sure this is card/setting issue here and not monitor,,

any idea's ?

should i be able to plus monitor into any socket on card ?

Welcome to the Club. I spoke to the OcUK tech support on the telephone and they said three cards had been returned today (13th not 14th) alone...

The above driver works, but it's really REALLY poor...I got better 3DMark scores with a forced manual install of the drivers by replacing the INF files to the beta 6.12 INFs, but it was still buggy.

Here is my beef. I've paid for a card that I can't use properly, and potentially, there is no support until January, as many people believe that the 6.12's are not going to support these X1950XT cards, which let me tell you...makes me a very unhappy man - more so that the CD drivers are utter garbage.

I've half a mind to write to ATI and complain, as by the time support is available, this card will have dropped in price significantly I reckon. Personally, I think they ought to foot the bill.

The other problem I have is that OcUK tech support said that they have not had this problem with their builds, which bothers me - why can some people get the CD driver working, and the rest of us not? My entire rig is brand spanking new - Gigabyte S3, Conroe E6600 (which is excellent btw), GeIL 2x512mb, Hiper Type-R 580 modular etc etc...
Tech support also charges £10+postage to return a "non-faulty" card to you as well...crazy.

It's just a bit pants that this driver from Connect3D works averagely, but the frame rates are MUCH lower than they should be for this card.

The X1950XT is not performing how i thought it would be at all :(.

well, I agree to a point - after quite a few tests, my 3DMark scores actually dropped a little  but to a degree I am pleased that the drivers actually install.

Do we see January as the 'peformance' update for the X1950XT cards? I certainly hope so.

Guys, I'm kinda scared - got a boxed X1950XT myself (the connect3d) from OCuK which I won't use until January. Is it _really_ that bad that you just won't get what you want from the card in terms of performance? What happens when you install the latest drivers from ATi?

Dude, i was about to by one yesterday. But like you i won't use it until january. So i thought, "why the hell would i buy a card now, that i wont use until new year?! Prices always drop after xmas" So i've decided to hold on until then. That way the drivers should be available and the card should be cheaper.
I'm surpised OCUK are charging for returns when there's obviously a generic problem. Is this a possible reason for them having it as offer of the week?

Had the same problem here guys.

The new 6.12's install correctly.

Only got Eve on my pc at the moment and have 0 fps increase over my old x800xl

will try 3dmark I suppose to see if things are running as they should

dammit my new card arrives today which i bought to replace an x850xt until i rebuy a whole new dx10 sys sometime next year. If the performance increase isnt substantial (and thats 160 quid substantial) im going to be a bit miffed at OcUK for selling this on whilst not at least providing some warning that there are no drivers out there which make the damn thing work. And that will affect who I buy the new system from next year.

Hows janessssy's work around doing for everyone?
