Evening all, sorry if this is a repost, hard with no search.

I have a relatively new Xbox 360, probably 1-2 months old and its already destroyed 1 disk (Pro Evo 6), and I can see from the other disks its probably not going to be the first. Ive always been careful with my stuff so its not down to me being careless. I know Microsoft replace first party disks for £10 but this isnt the point as my 360 will just scratch the new one. Is there anything I can do or is it going to have to be sent away?

If you bought it from the high street, just take it back to the shop, most will swap it for a new one.

Isnt that just within 28 days though? Im pretty sure mine is older than that.

If this isnt the case, could I keep my hard drive and would they replace PES6?

Ok, Ive just rung the chain store I purchased from, they said to bring it in tommorow, they will have a look at its condition and should be able to replace it there and then.

He asked me if I had it standing up or laying down and he went on to say the theres a fault with standing the console on its side as it knocks the lens thus scratching the disks. Is this true?

Does yours make a 'crunching' sound randomly Frank? My 360 has just started doing it during games, it'll be spinning away and then a loud crunch sound, and you can hear the disc drive stop, and then spin back up.

Yes thats exactly it. :( Eventually it will come up with the error message, this disk cannot be read and reset itself.

Spoken to the shop again, just taking the unit (no HD) back to them in a bit for a replacement. They should replace my copy of PES6 as well apparantly that the machine has ruined.

In all fairness, the machine was built to stand up and thats the way I need it to be used. Hopefully I may get one of the new machines with the better cooling although a decent DVD drive would be fine for now.

Well they replaced the console without even looking at it, got a nice new one now. It will remain a mystery whether its one of the newer models but it certainly hasnt got HDMI! :p They also gave me a brand new copy of PES6.

I think ive got the same model of DVD drive but its back on its side again so im hoping it was just a faulty drive and forget about it.
