Just finished setting up my new build, all good apart from a constant high pitched whining noise! :(

Initially suspected coil whine on one of the 980s so removed both graphics cards yet whine persisted. PSU is located in it's own half of the case and can't hear anything coming from it - can't for the life of me work out where it's coming from!

Any ideas,suggestions?

The Haswell-E CPUs don't come with a heatsink!

Made a very quick/short video, may have to turn the sound up to hear it (apologies!)

Will investigate again tomorrow, too tired to carry on messing around with it now :D

Noise is constant, doesn't change pitch or volume - audible when standing outside of the room :(

Guess that's the problem with small builds, everything's so tightly packed together it's difficult to troubleshoot!

Sounds like the H100i pump. You could safely unplug its SATA power lead while the PC is running. It will only take a few seconds to identify if the noise is gone and to plug in the lead again. There won't be any massive overheating if it's on idle, and for a few seconds, don't worry.

disable intel speedstep in the bios aswell and see if the noise stops

could be the mb power saving/throttling or psu
