So new year, new build time.

I have had my current spec for a few years now and fancy a change.

Current Spec

Intel 3770K
16Gb RAM
970GTX
128Gb SSD
128Gb SSD
320Gb SSD
2Tb SATA
Dell u2711
Corsair Air 240

Future Spec

Not sure if its best to go Intel or AMD for the CPU, graphics wise, tempted with a 1080 but I know the new Volta cards are around the corner as the 1080 is pushing nearly two years old now I think.

Storage wise, want to consolidate the drives down, currently have 1 SSD with the OS, two with games I play often, then the SATA drive for office stuff, plus other games, documents etc.

RAM due to the prices 16Gb is probally as high as I want to go now, in the future maybe more but I rarely get anywhere near using up all my RAM.

Screen wise I was looking at the big LG 43UD79 as it has the multiple screen options, but happy to look at other options.

Case I like my Corsair 240 however the height between the motherboard and the top of the side panel means most gfx cards will not fit, so looking at new case maybe, I go to LANs, so like to stick to ITX/mATX

Budget upto around £2,500

I do not need OS, KB, Mouse

Let me know what you come up with :)

Thanks

Kimbie

don't really think you need to change much at this point. the 3770k when overclocked is no slouch either.
could consider overclocking the 3770k (with an aftermarket cooler) - sorry you didn't mention if you have done so
swap the gtx970 for a 1080ti
get a 1tb ssd to consolidate all your ssd drives together
(+/- a psu - depending on what psu you have)

I have my 3770K overclocked to 4.0Ghz base clock

Would a 1080ti not be bottlenecked by the 3770K at 4K?

Thanks for the info

Do you game at 4K? What sort of FPS do you get in games?

Just need to pick the right 1080ti to fit in the corsair

Do you game at 4K?
tried 4k gaming a couple of times, i didn't think it was anything amazing, so dropped it back to 1440p for buttery smooth framerates.
currently in the process of selling my 4k monitor, after getting the 32inch 1440p 75hz aoc monitor for £200
basically pegged at 75fps @ 1440p with no drops.
for 4k, not so sure/can't remember, and i don't want to unwrap my 4k monitor to try lol :p

powerlink in action (mine :p)
it's about 25mm from the tip of the graphics card to the top of the powerlink, idk if that will fit an air240
