Evening all

I'm looking into upgrading my current PC. Been running this since June 06. Spec's at the moment are;
Q6600 B3 @ 3ghz
BFG 8800GTX
Asus P5K Deluxe
4gb Corsair
500gb WD HDD
Windows 7 64bit HP
2xDell 2209WA

I've been wanting to upgrade for quite a while now but due to lack of funds I've kept postponing it. Seeing as its just been Christmas and I get paid on the 31st I'm going to treat myself!

I'm looking into a really good i7 build with a good 3-4 years futureproofing. I've heard excellent reviews from the 5850/5870 so I'll hopefully make a move from nVidia to ATI as well. This majority of this build will be heavily towards gaming.

This is what I've came up with so far but this is just a rough guide on what I'd like to upgrade to, or the same bundle but with the H50 cooler instead of the Noctua. Also i'm not sure whether to replace my current HDD for a more bigger/modern one?

I will be keeping some of my hardware though;
Enermax Infinity 720w Modular PSU
Creative Fatal1ty Pro soundcard
Samsung 22xDVD/DL writer
Akasa Eclipse 62

I do have some questions though..

1. Will my current PSU be suffieient to power what I'll eventually be running?
2. Will a 5850/5870 fit in my case with ample room?
3. If I choose the H50 setup, will it comply with my case? I've heard that the pipes connecting the Heatsink to the Rad are kinda small.

I'd like to order as early as possibly due to VAT going back up to 17.5% again (the swines!) and due to the fact I'll have a good amount of time to sort it all out until January when I'm back at work again.

Looking forward to your replies and all feedback is warmly welcomed!

1) Your PSU will be fine
2) The 5850 in my system does not overlap the motherboard, but the 5870 probably will.
3) Not sure, it should fit ok on the rear extract fan.

@2.Yes it will the eclipse-62 is about 9.2cm longer than the Antec 300 with a total length of 56cm so it will fit without problems.

Excellent! Good news so far.

Would their be any point in me spending the extra money for the Noctua build rather than the H50? I know the Noctua build comes already clocked at 4ghz but I'm pretty sure I could manage that on my own, got this PC at 3ghz by myself with no effort!

I'm definitely swaying more towards the H50, due to the reviews and hype it's had since its release! Decisions decisions...

Going to be grabbing this either tonight or tomorrow morning. Can someone just double check this before I click order? Cheers

Upgraded myself with a similar spec to the OP, I personally didn't want to wait 2/3 months for a CPU that'll be practically the same :p
