Going mid March for the wife’s birthday.

I did a day trip once before when heading to Philly for work but that was a good 5-6 years back now.

I assume Newark is still the best airport to fly into?

Any good spots for hotels (didn’t stay in the city last time) or other advise and must go places out side the obvious? I went up empire state last time so we’re likely do rockafella to get the photos of the Empire State Building.

Cheers. Rui is in the price ball park I’d been looking at so that’s a good review. There so many options and prices all over it’s hard to know where to look.

Appreciate the foodie view, that is is high on my list and already had kats, joes, scarrs and Peter Luger on my list so will look up the others too. Especially Clinton st as love a pancake breakfast.

I’ve done Statue of Liberty before and imagine my wife won’t want to skip that, but it’s a nice chill boat ride. Although March may not be the best time for that…

This will be a Thursday to Monday trip. It’s strange to me that the hotel is going to be the more costly element then the flights are cheaper than when I use to travel for work about 6-7 years back

Yeh, the one on 47th right next to hersheys. That’s a bonus that it’s that much cheaper!!

It was busy and loud on the street but once you’re up in the room it’s fine. I barely heard anything and I need silence to be able to sleep.
Cheers good to know. Somehow I can now get the other location cheaper via a BA package so either looks viable based on costs.

All booked now. 4 nights in March Heathrow to Newark staying at Royalton park avenue via BA. Was £1500 before spending £200 of avíos points.

Thanks for tips etc given, went with Royalton park avenue to get us a little out from time square but still mid town ish and wasn’t much more than the likes of Riu for what appears to be a nice hotel.

Plus side of using the package with BA is it’s standard economy but cheaper than if I did basic economy and booked direct a worse hotel…

Now to organise taxi/parking/etc…

Went with Newark which if I recall was not hard to get into Manhattan by train but it’s been a few years.

Good tip on revolut will look for something like that. Though I’d like to think Apple Pay would work on the metro too

We didn’t opt for breakfast at the hotel considering the options available in the city that we want to try out.

Boat tour is on the wife’s list.

We chatted and a basketball or ice hockey game is on the cards. But also lion king soooooo

Thanks for all the input so far. Have a (un)healthy number of foodie spots on the list and a few more activities on the list too.

Good to know about the Staten Island ferry as an option to see the Statue of Liberty without needing so the actual tour (which I did before, it’s ok was my take a way).

Now let’s talk pancakes. What’s the go to pancake breakfast in Manhattan?
