Hi guys, going New York on the 28th of April to the 4th of May, is it true you can ask for a form for a 90 day visa whilst on the plane?!

Or should i just be safe and do it before hand if i decide to stay longer?

I went in January 2009 and I think I filled a form out on the plane.

It's got something to do with holding selected passports I think and some international agreement. If you're still unsure, just ring the US embassy and double check with them.

Wicked, i am so tempted to just do 90 days! Although i havn't got that much money, i guess it's illegal for me to work in bars or something to earn some extra cash?

Visa waiver is on the plane, but you'll need an ESTA filled out online in advanced.

Hells yeah its illegal, but do it anyway! ;)

What are the chances of me being caught? :p

Reasonable, and if you get caught you will never enter the USA again. Surely its not even worth it? Most places wont be interested in employing you anyway.

The USA is not the place to do the 'I'm skint lets bum around and work random jobs for a bit' thing. If you want that sort of experience go somewhere else.

Especially not New York, where the cost of accomodation is amongst the highest in the world!

The I-94W "green form" was phased out last year after running in parallel with ESTA for a while. You just have to make an ESTA application at least 72 hours prior to departure and receive permission to travel. If for whatever reason you do not receive permission, you must call the embassy.

You will, however, have to fill in a CBP customs declaration form which will be issued on the aircraft. The immigration official who grants you entry will inspect and stamp this form and you will then have to present it to the CBP officer on exiting the baggage hall.

Don't overstay a 90 day visa waiver and don't break it by working whilst travelling under it. If caught, they will ass rape you. My friend's brother did this. He was deported and told never to come back to the US again or he would face 10 years in prison.

My cousin has been doing it for years in LA. Though he went over to work (in a band) first and then just outstayed his visa. He is doing OK for himself, I imagine it would be quite a bit harder if you didn't know anyone beforehand.

Oooo i'd love to work in LA/Miami in music/film but it's impossible for me to do so, if only i was in a band!

I will want to go america in the future, i guess i'll have to find a wife out there to get citizenship! ha

Ahh the green form, that's what I filled out when I went.

5 days should be more than enough in NYC alone.

All the main tourist attractions - empire state, statue of liberty, times square, bla bla bla - only take a couple of days at best.

If you're facing the tickets place in the middle, there a great restaurant on the left somewhere that sells amazing pancakes.

Basically, my friend is doing a fashion degree, and part of her course is to go to New York for 6 months, she's there now, and her friend and i (we're all the same group) are going to see her so that's free housing for me! I'm just going to get drunk, see the sights, eat big and take lots of girls back to her house :P
