So got a new Asrock Z490 Extreme4 mobo along with a new i7 10770k CPU. Switching out from a Z270 and i see that the CPU PSU connector is now 12pin.

Basically mobo's i've always known have their ATX12V1 but this mobo has the extra ATX12V2

My PSU is a Corsair AX760. I don't see an extra 4pin connector or cable to use.

What's changed in the last couple of yrs since i last upgraded ?

Do the new mobo's and CPU's require a new type PSU ? or am i missing something obvious ?

The 12 pins , 8 you need to run the cpu normally the extra 4 is for extreme overclocking.

Yoy should be fine using just the 8 pin.

Newer psu,s have 8 + 4pin eps

Thanks i figured as much after a quick google search.. Did have me confused for a few tho. The manual annoyingly doesn't mention the 'optional' connector. I rarely if ever read a manual, except for some strange reason, this time i did. Hmmm that'll teach me !
