There seemed to be no interest in my other thread but maybe that's because they were pics from my phone :(.

Well, not one to give up, i've finally had a look at some of my images from my camera. These are just NZ, more to be added too.

Excuse the borders lol, it's been a few years since i've used photoshop and i'm not great at borders, infact, i'm not that clued up on photoshop anymore, i've forgotten a whole lot of functions etc. I know i've got nowhere near the full potential out of my shots, but then i've always been a fan of getting the image near as right in the camera and minimal photoshop use. I enjoy taking the pics, i just get bored processing them lol.

I'm trying to force myself back into it as i've still got my photos from Bruges , Paris and Barcelona from 2014 to process :o.

Any tips on a nice simple border would be greatly welcomed, if it's a script / action (is that what it's called?), then i can't even remember how to implement them either. I'm rusty haha.

Nice shots :)

personally I'd lose the polariser, or at least rotate it to lessen the effect - the dark-to-light gradient on many of the skies is jarring imho. Still, great shots and some fantastic locations :)

The best border is invisible, 0 pixels wide

Some wonderful shots there, you have a good eye for composition.

Regarding the borders, ditch them. They don't add anything to the shots. Borderless is always better IMO.

Some of your shots have a strange purple cast to the sky. For example, the Mt Manganui shots. In fact your skies are all over the place in terms of colour balance. is this post processing or a filter you were using? It's not my monitor (calibrated) and it only affects some of your shots, not all.

Other than that, great stuff!

It could be because i processed them on my (non calibrated) laptop.

Edit, Also, i shoot in Jpeg for less messing about these days, i'm not really serious about my photography these days so i scrapped shooting RAW when i switched from Canon to Olympus, i just snap for leisure these days.

(Sorry for the flood again, i'd just rather keep them all in one thread than start loads of others.

nothing wrong with posting lots of photos but you need to be selective:
*) You've got 3 of the red tractor/sculpture. Pick your fav
*) There are 5 of the interesting rock in the water, choose what you think is the best.

The borders still suck, sorry.

Anyway, some fascinating scenery down there. Will definitely have to make a visit.

If you processed them all on the same machine / screen that shouldn't cause the variation. It's likely the switch to JPEG or cameras. Skies are generally better in your second batch posted. Love the last shot in your series with the strange rock in the sea. It's almost Dali'esque.

Regarding RAW, it's still a good habit to keep even for casual shooting. Doesn't take long to batch convert stuff and you've always got the option to tweak your favourite shots or rescue the bad ones. Some cameras let you shoot RAW + JPEG which is a good compromise if you have plenty of storage.

Great photos! I'm literally on my back from New Zealand, I was there on business so I only got to visit the big cities. All of the scenery you have captured is the NZ I want to see next.

(yeh lose the borders ;))
