Total newbie to this stuff, I don't know what to buy out of an iPod, a Creative Zen X-FI etc.. I have a large stack of my ripped cds on my pc and am wondering if there would be any restrictions on playing them on one of these sort of players. I'm not entirely clued up on DRM etc so is it possible? I don't want to have to re-purchase working copies of all of my hundreds of cds :( Also looking at making a definite purchase around £100 tomorrow so opinions on a good model would help :)

It shouldn't be a problem ripping them from CD to mp3. You wouldn't need to fiddle with DRM at all.

As for the player, the zen x-fi is a good buy.

You can't drag and drop in explorer onto an Ipod, it uses it's own database/library system ...which I find annoying.

And no you can't expand the memory either to the very best of my knowledge.

You can drag and drop with the Creative players although I don't know if you can expand the memory.

I like the iPods from a "way they handle" point fo view, but i will never buy one because I have to use iTunes and I really don't like it. I have a Creative Zen Sleek at the moment and I am looking to replace it, probably go wit hthe new Creative model too

You don't have to use Itunes actually, you can use Winamp and there are a few others you can use too as far as I know.

I just don't like having to use any kind of music manager to manage it, I prefer to drag and drop like a hard drive.
