After some great advice around building a PC for my son and that has all been ordered… now the monitor!! Are there any recommendations? Ideally like everyone as cheap as possible but prob a max of around £5-600. The spec for the build is:

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Six Core 4.6GHz
WD Black SN770 2TB SSD M.2 2280 NVME PCI-E Gen4 Solid State Drive (WDS200T3X0E)
Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus WIFI II (AMD AM4) B550 ATX Motherboard
Lian Li Lancool II ARGB Midi-Tower Case - Black with Corsair RM Series RM650
Lian Li Lancool II ARGB Midi-Tower Case - Black
Corsair RM Series RM650 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply (CP-9020194-UK)
Corsair iCUE H100i Elite
Corsair 2x16gb Vengeance RGB Pro
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB

Many thanks

Does room have normal illumination?
If not, VA's the way highest contrast of LCDs makes it the best compromise.
Again in normal light level room IPS is better balanced.

For normal illumination this BenQ would give superb bang per buck at current price.
BenQ MOBIUZ27" EX2780Q 27" 2K QHD 144Hz FreeSync HDRi IPS Widescreen Gaming Monitor (SKU: MO-131-BQ) = £219.95
Even colout gamut is quite wide giving vibrant colours in games.

After that it's rather hard to give recommendations, because of price jump just being so big.
(unless having bigger table and wanting 32")

While LGs are popular, those 27" 2560x1440 "Nano-IPS" panels just don't have low enough price for blast from 15 years past low contrast.

Great thanks - lighting is what I would call normal yes. The BenQ was one I was looking at after my own research actually, so this is good to hear.
