Hi all,

This will be my first time building a PC (mostly for gaming). I currently have a 26" HD LCD TV max res. 1368x768 or along those lines. Iam hoping to get a 22"+ lcd monitor with a lot higher res.

Could you's have a look at the pic below and tell me if this system will work, and if i could make any improvements or if i've selected the wrong components. Cheers

get a DDR2 based MB and DDR2 ram, DDR3 offers no real life advantages at the moment.

you can also drop the PSU down to the TX650,

with the cash saved, get either a 4870 or some more RAM

yeah sorry, i meant to change that graphics card to a 4870.

I had picked the Asus P5N32-E PLUS SLi nForce (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard && DDR2, but was thinking of future upgrades. You think theres no point?

if benchmarking is your thing go DDR3, if not go DDR2

the money you save can be used to improve your system

the x38 chipset is a good choice so stick with it or go x48 if you can.

if you will never crossfire, then get a p35 or p45 MB

note p31,p35,p45,x38 and x48 do not support SLi

Thanks jak731: iam fairly sure i will be going SLi in the future. i will look into x48 to see what i can come up with.
Thanks admiral huddy, yeah if i were to go DDR2 i will def get 4gd wit vista x64bit

Is the cooling going to be ok, and is the case suitable for the setup?

firstly SLi is nvidia technology so to go sli, you have to get a nvidia card with your purchase, ATi's equivilent is called crossfire

p35, p45, x38, x48 supports crossfire

nForce 6 and nforce 7 supports SLi
