Hi all,

New to the forum and i am in the process of speccing a Gaming machine. I have built my own PCs in the past but not for a very long time and things have changed haha.

I have been having a read on the forums and other various sources and come up with the following:

Case - Corsair Obsidian 750D
PSU - Superflower Leadex Gold 850W Fully Modular "80 plus gold"
CPU/Board Bundle - AMD FX8 8350 - Overclocked to 4.2Ghz; Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 board; Akasa Nero 3 v.2 120mm Cooler and 16gb Team Group Elite RAM, 1600mhz C11 Dual Channel.
Graphics - XFX Radeon R9 290 DD Black Edition 4gb
HDD- Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm Sata
SDD- AMD Radeon R7 Series 120gb

I realise there are some bits missing but not anything too drastic. I would appreciate your thoughts on this build and any tips would be appreciated guys.

I have a budget but its not concrete and can be a bit flexible

Look forward to hearing from ya!

Hi & Welcome,

That's an interesting SSD you have there. :p

At this stage, I wouldn't be buying into the AMD socket or an AMD GPU, as the Nvidia 970's are unbeatable for the price and you won't be needing such a large and expensive PSU either.

What is your budget, can spec something up.

Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I am not sure budget wise, I did originally plan to spend about 700ish but as you are probably aware i am touching a grand now haha.
I can basically spend upto a thousand but with a view to adding afterwards, hence the big CPU etc.
I am open to any advice/alternatives you can offer.

Would suggest an i5 4670k, Gigabyte Gaming 3 motherboard, Galax GTX 970, 8GB of 2400/2666mhz RAM, 550w superflower PSU. Case you like, can't spec properly as I've just left work and on my phone.

Also, MX100 SSD.

But following the above should sort you out.
