Newbie help needed with gif animation and program

Hi guys,

I am completely new to all this, so please bear with me.

I would like to make a forum signature (for here and elsewhere) with an animated ECG. I found this guide and it seems very clear to me: http://www.animhut.com/tuts/flash/flash-tutorial-create-ecg-scan-lines-in-flash/

My problem, being a complete noob, is that I don't know what program he is using.

So my questions are: Any of you know what it is? Is it free? Are there any other similar or perhaps even better programs out there to do this?

I really need tutorials and guides to help me out since i neither have the time nor the patience to try to figure it out all by myself.

Also, never posted in this section before, but I have high hopes

First of all, he's using Flash, so the output won't be a gif, but a flash movie.

Secondly, animated signatures aren't allowed here.

OK, so that is the prgram Flash from Adobe with extensions such as CS5, CS6 etc.?

Well, if I ever manage to create something, it won't be used here then.

Pretty sure you can use paint shop pro to make animated gifs. Otherwise, bring out the GIMP
