Had to buy a new modem due to storm knocking out my old one however the new one "creative labs" modem when connected to my linksys router will not give me access to the internet Unless I just connect the modem direct to my ethernet card
I didnt have to do this with the old modem just connected from modem to router then router back to ethernet card in pc
Now when wired can access the router ie mapped drives on my pc but cannot get access to the internet and neither can I direct from the main pc
So there would seem to be a ip address conflict but how the heck do sort this? ipconfig when connected via router says 192.168.1.100. I have tried various settings ie in the router but still wont let me access internet comes up with ip conflict in windows task bar.. The router is set up to obtain ip automaticaly and is also DNS enabled
So simple question is where am I going wrong
