hello all,

I never have tried overclocking before, i have been reading the forums and specially the Q6600 thread, but couldnt find actually the steps to overclock my rig on AIR.

Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
2x 74gig / and 1x 150g - raptors.
512mb ATI Sapphire x1900xtx

i noticed that in BIOS that C.I.A.2 is Disabled, and thats why my cpu will idle at 1600mhz, but i dont want that, so how i do keep the cpu running at stock at 2.4ghz... as when i have been playing games it stutters a lot where its going from 1600 then up and down, id like to keep it steady.

i can put the voltages on auto and do it that way, but im unsure.

i would like to get my system running at around 3.ghz all the time.
and the memory maybe...

im just unsure how to do it all safely. and keep it running steady, im not worried about going mad with it, just want it to be running at a constant speed and will be smooth for programs / games...
this is what my system is showing right now, all at stocks.

any help with this is much appreciated!
cheers ;)

You can disable SpeedStep by disabling the C1E and the EIST options in BIOS.

There's a good Gigabyte DS3 overclocking guide in the Motherboard forum. It's primarily for the P965 version, but the BIOS options are pretty much the same in the P35 versions.

it doesnt seem that noisy, not even close to the sound of my raptors!

here is the new fan speed since i increased it all to run at normal speeds all the time, those temps are from leaving it on all night...

research my friend! You will find many a guide if yoou google it. We could tel you a bunch of settings...but if it screws up...you gota know how to fix it...or get it back to normal.
Try the overclcoking section for some guides first..when you have problems with your overclcock...post back and youll get some advice.

Edit..to anwer the first question you may have.....

To view the overclocking options in BIOS with your board...enter BIOS and press CTRL+F1...this will unlock most of the advanced options.
