Hi all,

I have spent a couple of days searching on the forum, and apologies if I've missed a post covering this very topic in plain sight, but I can't find any specific answers to my question. First, a bit of background....

I recently bought an Arctic Freezer Pro 7, with a view to overclocking the E6300 on my ASROCK Dual-VSTA motherboard. Nice idea, except my unbranded case does not have space for the fancy new cooler - it's blocked by the position of the PSU hanging too near to the CPU socket. So the question is....

Can I buy any one of the popular brands of midi cases (I'm thinking Lian Li PC7+, Akasa Eclipse?), to fit this cooler? Or must I buy a specific type (e.g full tower) /brand?Have looked at various manufacturer sites, trying to get internal spec and measurements, to find out beforehand whether the case is suitable, but failed miserably.

I look forward to your advice, and thank you in advance,

Joss

Thanks for the quick response!

Hey there,

That's just what I was after, will probably go for a Lian Li PC7+, for budgetary reasons.

Cheers.

If you're not a slave to Aluminium the the Akasa Zen would do you just as well and it's only £30. That said, the PC-7 will last a very, very long time and you'll never be short of people to agree on what a good choice it was (like me!).

Agreed. The TT Mambo im using is a decent case as well with plenty of room in there for an AC7 as im using one now, plus they are only £32 as well :)

And in the end I went for......

the Akasa Zen....

Figured that the Eclipse was a bit too big to fit into the space (although it sounded ideal), and then managed to find a pic of the Zen, with the case open. It was quite clear that I could fit my Arctic Freezer Pro 7 in there, and it came with case fans pre-installed (would have added to the price of the Eclipse). And it fits snugly into the space departed by my old case.

Best of all, CPU temps (Core 2 Duo E6300) have dropped from 75deg+, to only the mid-30s!!!!

How pleased am I, after only spending ~ £30!

Thanks for all the excellent advice.

And only 2 fans! Good design doesn't need a lot of fans to get good results.

Black or White? And you have to show us pictures - it's a rule!
