at home, you?
ok so friend of mine has a rack server, a rack firewall box, has gigabit switch, all cat 6 cables, all network cards/ports gigabit, he is using server 2008 r2, has 4 network ports in the server, all with cables in (dont know if thats correct way or not) and when logged in to the desktop for win server it only shows the network ports at 100mbps only, have tried looking into driver updates which didnt help as he tells me that the network card is a broadcom netxtreme 2 bcm5709c card in citrix xencenter and that its a gigabit network, yet in server 2008 it reports as a realtek rtl8139c+ fast ethernet nic card and uses a 100mbps connection, using only 1 of the network adapters in windows didnt change anything, i.e disable #2 #3 #4 leaving the first as the only one switched on, and cannot figure it out, iv been trying myself logged in remotely to it, tried looking at the speed/duplex in the adapter properties, but it only shows 100mbps in the drop down menu, weve since tested server 2012, same deal :confused::mad::mad: i am pretty competant when it comes to windows machines/drivers and error checking, but this is just out of my wheel house, anyone with any experience who could shed some light on this by any chance?

Can you try using sentences and paragraphs and explaining the issue again?

This!

But also.... are these the default drivers which Windows is installing?

If so, maybe go to the manufacturer specific website and download the appropriate driver?

This can be checked against the Hardware Vendor and Hardware ID. www.pcidatabase.com is a good place to start once you've found the Vendor/Device ID.

My money would be on the xencentre adapters setup within 2008 (the rtl8139c+ is 100mb only), re-provision the xen hardware to use different adapters or worst case bond multiple 100mb cards together

Which the OP should probably get somebody who knows Xen better to do...
