Hi guys, new here. I am about to order a custom PC. I wont be building it myself just to make that clear. Looking for helpful insight and guidance as im a massive PC noob despite playing them for last 2 decades. Ive never really bought anything remotely high end and i have no idea how to build them. That being said ive spent lots of time recently trying to absorb as much info as i could. Ive ended up with this selection of parts based on around 200 google searches lmao. From what ive managed to grasp i feel pretty confident that this setup is pretty good without breaking my bank too much, im already over budget a little. In the future id like to upgrade of course, at least the GPU but thats way down the line. For the foreseeable future this PC will be a huge step up in performance for me.

Here is my current selection of parts.

Ryzen 5 PC
  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz Hexa Core (Socket AM4)
  • G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2x 8GB) 3200MHz DDR4
  • MSI B450 TOMAHAWK AMD Socket AM4 Motherboard
  • Seagate BarraCuda 2TB SATA III 3.5" Hard Drive
  • MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti GAMING 8GB Graphics Card
  • Fractal Design Meshify C Mid Tower Case - Black
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1+ 650W Modular 80+ Gold PSU
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Home - 64-Bit DVD (OEM)
  • 3 Year Collect & Return warranty
  • Crucial MX500 500GB 2.5" SATA III SSD
  • No Thanks - I do not need WiFi
  • 2x Arctic F12 PWM 120mm Case Fan
Are there certain components i could probably replace for something in a similar price range? I have stretched my budget already to improve the SSD a litte, the motherboard and the RAM as i believe it is compatible with Ryzen systems? Hopefully someone can advise me on this as the cost was considerable. I kind of got the impression that i would be fine with something like Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz as i have no intention of Overclocking or anything beyond maybe the basics preset stuff.

Im very apprehensive to hit the buy button at the moment as i dont want to regret choosing certain components or make a mistake. However i have spent a while deliberating and im fairly confident this is a good setup at a fair price. Its around £1300 atm iirc. Please help me decide, i cant wait to get to playing but i do not want regrets :)

So a quick skim through the parts you've chosen, you've researched well.

The only thing I will change, is to change your graphics card to a Vega 64. Freesync monitors run £150-200 cheaper than Gsync monitors (for otherwise the exact same monitor) so you might as well get a freesync capable card with a freesync monitor as that will work out cheaper in total.

Otherwise your build looks good from a quick glance.

Thanks for the replies guys. Nice to know the endless googling and reading has paid off to some degree.

When using the 2600x it is still able to be set at an overclock right via some kind of preset settings? XMP profles? Im sure i read that somewhere. If that is true and i was to turn on those settings would the stock cooler for the 2600x still be sufficient or should i get a better cpu cooler? Case has 2 fans iirc and im adding 2 more. Anyone have experience with Ryzen 2nd gen?

With this setup what would you recommend for a monitor size? I would like to play different titles like league of legends, csgo, pubg but i also love stuff like skyrim, gta and survival horrors like evil within, outlast etc. What would be best monitor for this machine and those games. I have no idea if i should go 1080p or 1440p and same goes for 60hz or 144hz and 24" or 27". I will buy something with sync tech for sure so i can have a smoother experience. I dont mind turning some settings down a bit like shadows and running at high instead of very high or ultra high. I do still want it to look gorgeous though.

1440p 60hz + would do nicely, specially with freesync that can be had for £200

the OP didnt even mention a screen they have or intend to buy, though i do echo the above as im biased for going amd to eventually get freesync.

that rapier build orbital listed would be nice if it didnt just have nvidia options, not to say its not a bad choice, but obviously if you did go freesync then its not good ha.

just to put a prospective build in to the mix, using the rapier build, but dropping to a 2600x and adding the cheapest g-sync screen then if you were able to make up the difference then this be good if you did want the nvidia route.
