Hi guys,
I've been browsing the guides around here, trying to get a grasp of how to overclock my new pc. I recently got the Titan Pyro package as seen here, and replaced the fan with this shiny new one. With a couple more aestheic fans turning up (I love neon blue...), I currently have an idle temperature of 33º for the CPU, and 40º for the GPU. I've not really throttled the system, but I've never seen the numbers above 55º.
Now comes the problem. My motherboard - a Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P - doesn't have any options in the BIOS to change the voltages. Most other Gigabyte boards seem to have something called the MB Intelligent Tweaker, which allows this sort of thing, but mine doesn't. All I have is an Advanced Chipset control allowing the change of the RAM, CPU and FSB.
My original plan was to set the CPU multiplier at it's max setting (14.5), and raise the FSB from 200 to 240, while dropping the RAM's speed from 4 to 3.333, so as to keep the 800Mhz per se. However, as I can't change the voltage to accommodate this, even upping the FSB by one causes the BIOS to flash a warning and revert back when it boots.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this board, or programs that may allow me to tweak the voltage outside of the BIOS? The stickied beginner's guide was a great help, but unfortunately I seem to get errors with all the overclocking programs mentioned there (I'm running Vista).
Now, if it is impossible to overclock this board (reading on the web, some are saying yes, some are saying no), all is not lost as my birthday is coming up and I'm sure I can point out a new motherboard to my missus and act surprised when she buys me it. Are there any 5 star, stamp of approval, undisputable boards which you guys can recommend that I can simply transfer the parts over to and commence tweaking?
That's probably too many questions, so sorry for my newbishness. Long story short, does my motherboard suck, how do I make it not suck, and what motherboards don't suck?
Cheers.
